Fishery Information
Presented by the Birmingham Anglers Association, the Apperley Pools are two fishing spots close to Severn and just tucked below Tewkesbury.
The larger pool has 28 pegs and depths of up to a dozen feet. Bear in mind that both pools used to be clay pits, so a bit of work has been done over the years.
Residents of both pools include carp, tench, pike, perch, bream, and more than a few large eels.
There is no night fishing at Apperley Pools.
Access to this spot is for members only, although there is word day passes can be purchased through the Birmingham Anglers Association for those interested.
What size do the fish go to?
There isn’t a lot of information about the fish inside Apperley Pools, suffice to say that it is noted the eels can come in on the big side.
What tactics work well?
There are no general tactics specific to Apperley Pools, but membership rules must be followed to the letter.
This includes the use of a keepnet of the required size and an unhooking mat. Return all fish to the water using the proper care.
What facilities are on site?
There are no facilities on location, but there is a pub nearby for anglers to swap stories and consume a few adult beverages after a day’s sport.
Is parking available?
There is access to the parking lot off nearby Gabb Lane. Access to the lake is through a locked gate that members have the code for. The gate must be closed and locked at all times.
Association members are reminded that access between the parking lot and the second pool at Apperley is for walking traffic only.
