Fishery Information
Atkins Waters is a venue on the Waterbeach Angling Club’s books, and it is free to those with a WAC Clubcard. This is not like other free fishing venues, though; Atkins packs a punch in the fish department. This lake is really popular with match and pleasure anglers, and anyone fishing this lake will have a brilliant day. There are loads to catch, and it is such a peaceful lake to fish.
What size do the fish go to?
The carp in Atkins go to about 18lbs, although they are growing nicely. The bream, too, have grown a lot over the last few years, with some lovely examples to be caught. There is also roach, silvers and there are a couple of golden tench in the lake too. During matches, many anglers can catch huge bags of silvers and win without ever even seeing a carp!
What tactics work well?
Atkins is centred around an island, and most of the larger fish use the island for cover and to sunbathe during the day. So, you need to target the island. For some pegs, this can be done with a pole, but method feeding or ledger fishing can be done elsewhere. It is also worth fishing the margins as well. Corn, maggots, casters, pellets and a good quality groundbait should all be used here.
What facilities are on site?
There are toilets available on site. There is also an office where day tickets are available for this water for non-members of the club.
Is parking available?
Yes, parking is available on site.
