The Avon Trout Fishery, found at the Greendykeside Wind Farm in Longriggend, in the middle of the beautiful countryside of Lanarkshire between Airdrie and Cumbernauld, provides separate fishing areas for fly and bait fishing. The fishery consists of two ponds, both of which are stocked with fish.
The first pond is around 1.2 acres in size and is suitable for anglers of all experience levels, from novice to expert. The Fly Only Specimen Pond is regularly stocked with Rainbow Trout, Blue Trout, Brown Trout, Golden Trout, and Tiger Trout, and they have recently started stocking Arctic Char as well.
The second pond is 1.1 acres in size and features fishing opportunities for anglers of all skill levels, including bait fishing and fly fishing. The pond receives daily stockings of hard-fighting Rainbow and Blue Trout as well as regular stockings of Brown Trout, Golden Trout, and Tiger Trout. Stockings take place throughout the year.
