Basford Coarse Fishery is a really exciting day ticket fishery with four lakes to choose from. There are some stunning carp at this venue, as well as plenty of other fish that no one will mind catching. For most anglers, Pool 1 or 2 is where they will want to be. These pools are where the larger fish reside. They also hold a good head of other fish like perch, rudd, roach, tench and bream. The other two pools at the complex are perfect for beginners and those that love catching a mixed bag of silverfish.

What size do the fish go to?

Pool 1 holds a few carp up to 30lbs, as well as plenty of 20lb carp too. Pool 2 has some carp to over 20lbs and plenty of double-figure carp that are hard fitting and beautiful.

What tactics work well?

Pool 1 is often fished with carp angling tactics, which work very well. Finding a clear spot near the overhanging trees is a good idea. A PVA bag is a very option here as it will allow you to fish closer to the trees.

Pool 2 is often fished with carp tactics too, and these work very well here as well. However, don’t neglect the method feeder and pole on this lake. These tactics could see a fantastic mixed bag of a very good weight.
