Fishery Information
The Bishton fishing ponds, locate just outside Rugeley in the heart of Staffordshire countryside, are home to some of the best carp fishing in the county.
There are three fishing ponds on the property, all of which are easily accessible, making it an ideal location to spend the day fishing at the old farm. Night fishing is allowed with prior arrangements.
Pool 1 consists of a wide variety of fish, including Tench, Crucian, Mirror, Ghost, Common, Koi, and Grass Carp. In addition, there are an abundant number of silver fish, such as bream, rudd, ide, roach, perch, and gudgeon.
In Pool 2, which is the run water, you’ll find a variety of fish, including carp such as Ghosts, Grass, Common, Crucian, and Mirror, Tench, Bream Barbel, Roach, and Rudd.
Pool 3 is the Specimen pool and contains a healthy population of carp and tench.
What size do the fish go to?
Carp up to 26lbs, Tench up to 8lbs, Bream up to 6lbs , Barbel up to 8lbs.
What tactics work well?
Carp caught with a hair rigged corn, boillie, pellet, and meat have all been successful at this site in the past. In Pool 1, float fishing with pellets, maize, worms, bread, maggots, casters, and pastes have all been successful at this location.
It is possible to fish on the little islands in each pool, but the fish in Pools 2 and 3 do wander around, so you should not ignore the edges. The boilie, the solid bag, and the zig are all effective tactics for fishing runs and specimen waters.
