Fishery Information

Operated by the Moreton Angling Club, Bourton Lake is located on the edge of Cotswold town. It’s actually an accumulation of several lakes, but the club states that only the right-hand lake is open for angling.

Bourton Lake is secured by a gate that only members can open. There is a code in the handbook and the gate must be locked and shut after each entry and exit.

Fishing is permitted only from dawn until dusk, unless members have a valid syndicate permit that allows for night fishing. Under these special circumstances, members are not allowed to arrive prior to dark or leave prior to sunrise – unless in cases of emergencies.

Fishing is permitted at Bourton Lake from June 1 to May 31 inclusive.

Bourton Lake is noted for carp, tench, roach, perch, and pike.

What size do the fish go to?

It’s difficult to determine how large the fish in Bourton Lake can be, as actual information is a bit scarce.

What tactics work well?

Bourton Lake is not subject to any particularly special tactics, as most approaches should yield results.

That said, users should be aware of all Moreton Angling Club rules and bylaws before fishing.

Members may not use more than two rods on Bourton Lake. Radios, guns, boats, or dogs are prohibited from these waters. All hooks must be barbless. And all captured fish must be returned to club waters.

What facilities are on site?

Fishing at Bourton Lakes is fairly straightforward and there are not many amenities on the property.

Is parking available?

Parking may be available nearby, but it is best to check with the Moreton Angling Club for particulars.
