Fishery Information
Established in 1894, this stretch of river is split into 7 sections with varying widths, depths and flows. It offers a wide choice for anglers to fish using different methods for a variety of fish species.
Section 1 is home to bream, tench, perch, roach, pike to 33 lbs and carp. Barbel and chub can be caught during winter months.
Section 2 is home to bream, tench, perch, roach, pike to 33 lbs and carp. Barbel and chub can also be caught on this section during winter months.
The river starts to shallow as you go upstream on Section 3. All swims in this section have platforms. This water is home to roach, perch, skimmers and large chub and tench.
Section 4, which is up to 8 feet deep, is home to a mix of bream, barbel, chub, perch, roach and tench.
With a depth of up to 6 feet, Section 5 is quite narrow at the upstream end. This mixed stretch is home to stunning chub and barbel.
On Section 6, the river starts to shallow up with some deep glides and runs. This section is home to big chub and barbel as well as perch, roach and skimmers.
Section 7 is mainly shallow with some deep glides and runs. This section is home to big chub and barbel as well as some significant perch and roach.
There are 2 stillwaters on site, which include Pockeridge and Burbrook Lake. Pockeridge consists of 2 lakes and both hold carp, roach, rudd, tench and perch to 4 lbs. Burbrook Lake has a total of 13 swims and is home to carp, roach, perch, bream, chub, rudd, tench and some crucian carp.
Please note that all waters controlled by Chippenham Angling Club are to be returned to the water.

Pike go to 33 lbs and perch to 4 lbs.

For Sections 1 and 2, parking is available in town car parks.
For Section 3, parking is available in golf course car park.
For Section 4, parking is available on Riverside Drive.
For Section 5, parking is available on the left by the fence near the house. From here, you need to walk down to the river through the fields.
For Section 6, parking is at Peckingell car park only through the coded gate.
For Section 7, parking is at Kellaways bridge.
For Pockeridge, parking is available on roadside by lower lake.
For Burbrook Lake, parking is available at the lake.
