Fishery Information
Tucked between the Malvern Hills and the River Severn in Worcestershire are the Broad Oak Trout Lakes.
This fly-fishing spot is comprised of two lakes, both of which are day ticket locations. Each lake is clean and open, with plenty of space to cast from.
Oak Tree Lake is three acres in size, while Acorn Lake is an intimate single acre. Both are stocked with lots of trout varieties, including rainbow, blue, tiger, and brown.
Anglers can cast from the banks or from appointed platforms. A pontoon is available for less mobile visitors.
What tactics work well?
All anglers must book in upon arrival at the Broad Oak Trout Lakes.
Fishing is single-fly only, with barbless hooks to a maximum size of 10 permitted.
Brown and tiger trout must be returned to the water.
Rainbow and blue trout must be caught and landed without delay. These are not catch-and-release fish.
Mobile phones are not allowed on the lakeside, so leave those business calls at the office.
No family, spectators, or pets permitted around the lake.
Respect other anglers.
What facilities are on site?
There is a Fisherman’s Hut at Broad Oak. This place provides complimentary tea and coffee. It also houses the catch return spot, which is where anglers can record and compare their catches from the day.
There are holiday lodges for rent as well. This includes the romantic Shepherds Hut.
Is parking available?
There is ample parking at Broad Oak Trout Lakes.
