Fishery Information
Presented by the Godalming Angling Society, Broadwater Lake is a 10-acre spot with a gorgeous naturalistic environment.
This is a members-only spot, with day and night fishing available. Many members enjoy spending the entire night at Broadwater, hauling in as many as 20 carp in a session.
Carp fishing is abundant here, but anglers can also catch a share of crucians, tench, roach, rudd, and perch.
This spot is nestled in a public park, so it serves as a beautiful getaway for members. There are 40 swims on the lake.
The Godalming Society was founded in 1881 with about 25 members at that time, but it’s blossomed to a group with over 1,800 members. Broadwater Lake was among the first spots they frequented. Up until 1984, it was the only lake that was securely held by the Society.
What size do the fish go to?
Carp over 30 pounds and perch up to three pounds can be found in Broadwater Lake.
There are also reports of six-pound tench in these waters.
What tactics work well?
The season runs from July 1 to June 30. There is a two-rod limit.
No keepnets.
Barbless hooks only, if the size is larger than 14.
What facilities are on site?
There are toilet facilities at this lake, with an access key for members. The facilities are locked to the public.
Is parking available?
There is parking on the main road side, with level access for the entirety of the lake. Parking is also located at the top end at the Sports Centre, accessed via Summers Road in Farncombe. There is a rather steep ramp at this spot, however, so disabled anglers should take caution.
