Fishery Information
Managed as a general mixed fishery by the Portsmouth and District Angling Society, Brockhurst Moat features a quality variety of fish.
This spot includes a small head of carp, tench, bream, perch, roach, rudd, and pike.
The waters are maintained to the extent that there are no closed seasons, but the Society can close it from time to time if any management conditions should arise.
There are approximately 20 spacious swims at the Brockhurst Moat. Fishing must only be done from these spots.
What size do the fish go to?
Fish at Brockhurst Moat are typically on the large side, although the head sizes are on the small side.
What tactics work well?
Rules of the Portsmouth and District Angling Society must be followed. Anglers are encouraged to download the official handbook from the Society website for more information.
No shelters may be set up at the Moat outside of the swims or on the pathways. Areas above swims must be kept clear of obstruction at all times.
Damage to vegetation, whether through chopping or digging holes or other means, is not allowed.
Raking of swims is permitted, but weeds must be piled tidily out of the water and only with consideration of others in the vicinity.
Anglers may pre-bait at Brockhust, with amounts up to one kilo permitted.
Pike fishing takes place between October 1 and March 31 only.
Maximum stay at Brockhurst Moat is 24 hours.
Is parking available?
There is a car park, plus some more parking is available on the thoroughfare adjacent Wingate Road.
