Now known as the Great Burrows Trout Fishery, this two-acre spot is a great place to get a little platform fishing done.
As the name states, this is terrific place for triploid and blue trout. These fish are catch-and-kill only, while a small amount of brown trout are designated to return to the waters.
Fish stocks are provided by Exmoor Fishers Brompton Regis and noted for their quality.
Day tickets are sold and administered based on the amount of fish caught. A two-fish pass costs £25, for example, while snagging the six-fish maximum will range up to £45. There is also a “lads and dads” package that allows for youngsters to catch up to four fish with their father for a fixed price.
Fishing is open year round, with the exception of Christmas Day. Doors open at 8 am and close at sunset.

What tactics work well?
Fly fishing is the name of the game at this fishery. Lures are not permitted and barbed hooks are likewise banned. Catch and release fishing is not allowed and fishing may only be done from the platforms.
Spinning reels are not allowed.
Great Burrows Trout Fishery recommends the use of small nymphs, buzzers, emergers, or spider patterns. The goal is to naturally emulate the flies around the lake.
