Cantref Reservoir is the middle reservoir on the A470 between Merthyr Tydfil and Brecon. Covering 42 acres, this water body is home to a population of wild brown trout averaging around 10oz and reaching up to 1lb in weight.
Fishing Methods and Fish Stock
The reservoir is stocked several times a year with rainbow trout by the Merthyr Tydfil Angling Association, who control the fishing. Due to the presence of rainbow trout, the fishing season runs from 1st March to 30th November. Fishing at Cantref Reservoir is by fly only.

Day tickets can be purchased via the Merthyr Tydfil Angling Association website, Castbooker, or from the Bait Shack tackle shop in Merthyr Tydfil.
