Carney Pools is a 12-acre idyllic fishing site on the edge of Cannock Chase, located between Rugeley and Stafford. It has 2 course fishing pools, Damsel and Dragon, which are both available for day tickets and matches. This venue welcomes visitors of all ages and angling abilities and offers facilities for disabled anglers.
Damsel Pool is a 1.4-acre pool with 23 pegs. It has an average depth of 4 feet and contains a huge stock of carp to low doubles. Other species present in this water include bream, gudgeon, perch, roach and tench.
On the other hand, Dragon Pool has 19 swims. It is a little deeper than Damsel Pool and has larger fish as well. Carp in this water go up to 20 lbs.. There are also good numbers of fish that weigh between 7 and 10 lbs.. This pool is also home to bream and tench to 6 lbs.

What tactics work well?
A variety of tactics work for bulk carp catches. Pellet waggler or pellet fished in the margins work well here. Corn is also known as a good standby bait. Float fished maggot or caster work well for catching silverfish and carp.
For catching larger carp on Dragon Pool, try legering a hair-rigged cube of meat, paste, a larger pellet or a couple of grains of corn.
