Managed by the South Somerset District Council and the Chard and District Angling Club, Chard Reservoir is a 48-acre open water that is popular with carp anglers, match anglers, ornithologist and walkers alike. This venue is also a popular night fishing site as the swims are huge and accessible for bivvies. Permits are available on site from a C&DAC member.

Regarded as one of the best bream waters in the country, Chard Reservoir is also home to a good variety of fish species. It is dominated by bream, carp, roach and tench, but is also home to perch and eel. Bream catches of over 100 lbs. is not unusual on this water. Bream go up to 7 lbs. while carp go up to 33 lbs..
