Located in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, Cleatham Trout Fishery is a tranquil location that offers excellent fly fishing to the keen Trout angler. The mature clear Lake reaches depths of 17ft and is well stocked with various Trout species.
Swims are strategically placed and the water offers a host of fishing features. For example, lily pads and overgrown trees add character to the surroundings and give a secluded feel. Crucially, the venue prides itself on a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, with anglers of all abilities welcome.
The site is open Tuesday to Sunday from 8:30am to 8pm. Furthermore, Day tickets start at £14 with discounts available to juniors, the elderly and disabled anglers.
What size do the fish go to?
Blue, Brown and Rainbow tend to average between 2 and 8lbs. However, the largest specimen do reach as high as 20lbs.
What tactics work well?
Typically, natural flies such as Damsils and Caddis are effective. Additionally, utilising buzzers, Pheasant tails, Daddies and Nymph is highly recommended.
What facilities are on site?
There is an on-site café which sells a variety of snacks as well as a range of refreshments. Also, accommodation is available in the for of a camp site. Moreover, clean and accessible toilet facilities are open to visitors.
