Fishery Information
Darran Park is located in the town of Ferndale in Rhondda Cynon Taff. It is enveloped by steep cliffs that provide a panoramic view of the woods. Among the many trails are a leisure area, a play area, and a number of picnic spots.
The park is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and it features paths that provide breathtaking views of the Rhondda Fach, and the beautiful lake.
The Darran Park Lake is a 4-acre man-made lake nestled deep in the heart of the picturesque park. Carp anglers will be able to catch between 50 and 60 fish, with a good number of high doubles and the occasional 20lb fish thrown into the mix. The current lake record is 27lb.
There is a good population of Bream, with some weighing in at more than 5 pounds. For those who prefer to float fish, there are Roach, Rudd, and Perch to go by.
If you are interested in catching a Pike or two, you are in luck because there are a number of them in this area. Because the lake’s banks are entirely made of tarmac, it is an excellent place for disabled anglers to show up and fish.
