As of now, the minimum stocking size at Dever is four pounds. Most fish average six pounds, but there are some double-digits lurking in the waters.
The smaller stock pond contains a few so-called “Dever Doubles,” which are trout over the 10 pound range.
The Stonk Pond has fish from 10 to 20 pounds.
What tactics work well?
A 6/7 weight outfit is recommended at Dever Springs, with a floating line. Fishing should not be done too deep, as most of the catches take place a few feet from the surface.
The Damsel is the best fly at Dever Springs.
Roaming is the best approach, as staying in one place too long doesn’t produce great results. Casting blind is recommended only when anglers are prepared to move on after a few minutes exploring the swim.
