Fishery Information

Drakelands Trout Fishery can be found about 6 miles outside of Plymouth not far from the edge of Dartmoor National Park. It’s set in a lovely, quiet location that is open all year round.

This fishery is strictly catch and release and there’s a good stock of both brown and rainbow trout which can be caught here. The brown trout here have grown particularly big and these really do enjoy a good hatch of fly.

Fish can often be found where the stream flows into the lake and that’s where we recommend you start, as the stream is a good food source.

If that doesn’t work, then try the deeper spot just in front of the dam.

The evening is a great time to try this fishery as that seems to be when the fish want to feed most.

What size do the fish go to?

We couldn’t find any information on this.

What tactics work well?

  • Pheasant Tail nymphs
  • Gold Ribbed Hares Ear
  • soft hackled nymphs
  • Sparkle Caddis

What facilities are on site?

There are no facilities on site but there’s a pub nearby.

Is parking available?

Parking is available in the nearby Miner’s arms, but if you use their car park at least make sure you nip in for a quick pint after it.
