Fishery Information
Drayton Reservoir is a very special water. It used to be a match fishing venue and the record was once 410lb. However, the fish have now grown that big that its hard to catch the fish on a pole and its now become a carp fishing water where you need strong line and strong rods.
Most of the fish in the lake are double figures with a lot of these being 20lb or more, so there’s a good chance to catch some really decent sized fish. Fishing shallow can produce great results in the summer but you must get there early if you want a good spot as it can get very busy during the summer months.
Drayon Reservoir is recommended to someone that’s new to carp fishing as its a bit easier than some other carp waters due to the high stock of fish.
Night fishing is allowed but the gates are locked at night.
What size do the fish go to?
We couldn’t find this out but there’s a lot of big double sized fish.
What tactics work well?
Zig rigs and spodding work well on here but the method feeder and PVA bags also produce great results.
