Fishery Information
Located at the Fairlands Valley Park, Fairlands Lake has been managed by the Welwyn Garden City Angling Club since 2010.
The Park is situated in the heart of Stevenage and has been in existence since the early 1970s, with over 20 acres of water spread across four connected lakes. It is the Main Lake permits fishing, with stock of carp, crucians, chub, barbel, roach, rudd, and perch available.
Tickets are available on a day ticket basis, with charges by the rod. There are also membership options. Night fishing is also available, with pre-booking available through the bailiff.
What size do the fish go to?
Carp at Fairlands Lake range over 35 pounds, while crucians are coming in at four pounds.
What tactics work well?
The Fairlands Valley Park covers 120 acres of former farmland and it noted for a variety of sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, dragon boating, and other water activities.
For this reason, it’s important to note where anglers are fishing. This is far from a distraction-free zone and there is plenty of activity in the surrounding area, which is why a versatile set of tactics works best.

The Fairlands Valley Park has ample amenities and facilities, including a water play facility and a children’s play area.
There is a shared-use footpath running throughout the park.
Dogs are welcome.
There is parking and facilities available for the disabled, as well as toilets.
