Whether you are new to fishing in general or interested in moving into carp fishing, it is worth noting that the best condition for catching and landing carp is moderate to warm temperatures in the water and air with an overcast sky and winds coming from the southwest and south. The fact that all of the above and a stable low or slowly falling air pressure are present in the county means carp fishing in Cheshire is possible and can yield great results.
There are several highly reputable carp fishing syndicates Cheshire and Cheshire fisheries has to offer. They may be worth contacting if you want to guarantee some find big carp fishing in Cheshire. However, be warned that they are often difficult to join.
If you want to get out there on the swim and enjoy exciting and fulfilling carp fishing, you should consider the following fisheries in the area.
Shakerley Mere
Shakerley Mere is based in the picturesque market town of Knutsford and is 17 acres of prime fishing water run by the good people at Lymm Angling Club. If you are interested in big carp fishing in Cheshire, the Mere is a great place to start, as it is stocked with many fish that weigh as much as 30 pounds. Tabley Mere
The second on our Cheshire meres list is Tabley Mere. Offering 33-acres of fishable water, another great fishery run by the Lymm Angling Club, perfect for big carp fishing in Cheshire and based in Knutsford, is Tabley Mere. This particular mere is nice if you want to escape the busier venues, and as well as 20 marked pegs and a plethora of excellent features, you can also night fish here.
Just as with Shakerley Mere, carp can get up to 30 pounds, but fishing is hard, and that means when you catch one it can be very rewarding fishing.
Tatton Mere
If you want the opportunity to fish a lot of carp in one of the best Cheshire meres, they don’t get much better than Tatton Mere. The natural beauty of Tatton Park is a fantastic setting for landing carp that are as much as 57 pounds. Sir Humphry Repton designed this venue and is popular purely for pleasure anglers and carp anglers. It is a true specimen carp lake and also one of the nicest Cheshire fishing lakes.
Moore Quarry
Moore Quarry sits next to Manchester Ship Canal, just outside the pretty town of Moore, and it is a stunning lake. Warrington Anglers Association manages it and is a members-only venue with clear waters that, at their deepest, are as much as 40 feet deep. This can be challenging to fish on. If you take on the challenge, though, the largest carp weighs over 30 pounds and more. River Fishing
In Cheshire, river fishing can be a captivating experience due to the variety of waterways available. The River Dee offers excellent angling opportunities near Chester city centre, providing easy access to bountiful coarse and game fishing. The River Mersey, stretches near the weir in Victoria Park and in Woolston, Warrington are popular angling spots. Despite its industrial past, the Mersey has made an impressive recovery and now offers good fishing.
With some sections maintained by Winsford Anglers, the River Weaver boasts great fishing locations such as the area just off the A40.
The River Dane, managed by Northwich Anglers, is particularly commendable for its large populations of chub and barbel. It also has diverse species like dace, roach, perch, eels, trout, grayling, bream, pike, and carp. Anglers can enjoy fishing on the right-hand bank, looking down from the A556 bridge to the viaduct and double-bank fishing from the viaduct down to the bridge on the A5509.
