Fishery Information
Gunville Pond is a wonderfully mature fishing lake set into some beautiful surroundings on the Isle of Wight. It is a 2.5-acre lake set into 4.5 acres of natural beauty. While the area outside of this 4.5 acres is quite built up, there is barely a sound to be heard at this venue, other than the wildlife and bite alarms. This is a deep lake at 18ft at its deepest. This does mean that there is plenty of oxygen for the fish, though. This is really evident when you find out about the sizes of fish in this lake.
Gunville Pond is not a day ticket fishery. It is a membership-only fishing venue, but if you live on the Isle of Wight or holiday here a lot, this lake is well worth fishing. There are some beautiful fish here to catch.
What size do the fish go to?
Gunville Pond has carp to over 35lbs. There are also tench to 7lbs, bream to 7lbs and roach to 2lbs. There are also some winter pike to over 20lbs as well. The pike at Gunville Pond are pretty difficult to catch because of all the natural food sources, but the clever angler can get them onto the bank.
What tactics work well?
The lake has some very good spots to target, like overhangs and lily beds. If you’re fishing to the lily beds, you do need to be very quick on the draw; the carp won’t stick around in the open water for long.
What facilities are on site?
No facilities that we know of.
Is parking available?
Yes, parking is available.
