Fishery Information
Fishing of the finest quality can be found at the Harlesthorpe Dam, which is located in Clowne in the county of Derbyshire. There are two different bodies of water that contain a wide diversity of fish species and are ideal for recreational, competitive, and specimen fishing.
The more mature lake is only two acres in size and is encircled by wooded areas on all sides. There is a densely overgrown island in the middle of the body of water. The chub is the predominant species in this location.
A giant carp may be caught in the 10-acre main lake. There is a strong representation of upper doubles, and a high population of tench. The best times of day to fish for this species are early in the morning and late in the evening.
At the deeper end, depths range anywhere from four to twelve feet, and there are many different structures and weed beds around the margins to fish. Bream, perch, roach, and rudd are some of the other species found in the lake.
