Fishery Information
Hatleys Junior Pit is a water controlled and operated by Waterbeach Angling Club. It is a water for their younger members; only members with a junior membership card can fish it. It is a great lake for younger anglers to get a taste for fish, learn some angling skills and have a lot of fun meeting other anglers of the same age.
This lake teaches younger anglers to respect their waters. So, for example, if any litter is left around the lake, it is closed. Other than that, there is no closed season for this lake. There is also no night fishing, no keepnets and no tins allowed either. Hatleys teaches young anglers how to respect fish, the lake and the surroundings while perfecting skills they can transfer to the larger waters of the club.
What size do the fish go to?
While this lake is small, the carp are big. The carp in this lake go to 30lbs. There are also tench to 5lbs, perch to 2lbs and roach and rudd to 2lbs.
What tactics work well?
Many junior anglers going to Hatleys are going for the 30lb carp. There are a lot of reed beds in this lake; there is also a bay protected by a reed bed. This could be the perfect place to target the larger fish.
What facilities are on site?
There are no facilities at the lake, another lesson for the juniors!
Is parking available?
Parking is available, but it’s a bit of a walk from the lake, so only bring light gear.
