Fishery Information
Hayles Fruit Farm Fishery offers day ticket anglers and campers the opportunity to fish in two of its two coarse fishing lakes. The two are the following:
THE LAKE was first built by the monks of Hailes Abbey. Despite its age and the fact that it has not been altered in any way, it retains its natural beauty. It offers a fishing experience that is truly peaceful, in an incredibly picturesque site that includes a gorgeous island in the middle of it all. There is room for approximately ten anglers around the lake.
THE RESERVOIRE — Besides fishing, it Is the water source for the crops on the farm. This body of water, which was dramatically expanded in 1977 following the drought that occurred in 1976, is also exceedingly gorgeous. It can accommodate groups of up to 12 anglers at a time.
Both lakes contain a variety of fish species for anglers to catch, which include Mirror, Common, and crucian Carp, Rudd, Roach, Perch, and Gudgeon.
What size do the fish go to?
Mirror and Common Carp to 29lb
Crucian Carp to 3½lb
Rudd to over 2lb
Roach to 2lb
Perch over 3lb
What tactics work well?
No keep nets or carp sacks
Barbless hooks only
An unhooking mat must be used for Carp
