Located in Chelmsford, Essex, the Hicks Farm Fishery is a lake that spans 1.5 acres and is maintained by the Billericay & District Angling Club. The lake provides excellent fishing opportunities for anglers of varying levels of experience. It ranges in depth from two to four feet on average and features twenty-four swims.
Common carp, mirror carp, grass carp, F1s, roach, rudd, and gudgeon are some species that make up the fish stock. The Fishery is closed when BDAC matches or other private activities are taking place, and fishing at night is not permitted. The management requests that you read all the requirements and comply with them.
What size do the fish go to?
Common, Mirror and Grass up to 20lbs, F1s to 3lbs, Gudgeon 2oz + Roach: 1lb +, Rudd: 1lb +
What tactics work well?
Pole, waggler, and float fishing, with best baits being bread, boilies, luncheon meat, maggots, paste, pellets, and sweet corn. Use only barbless hooks, one rod only and no keep nets other than on official BDAC organised matches. Good sized carp can be caught in the margins particularly in the afternoons.
What facilities are on site?
Shared chemical male and female toilet.
