Fishery Information
Higher Farm Fishery has three well-stocked lakes set into the beauty of the Somerset countryside. All three of these lakes provide some excellent fishing. They are all very well maintained and are teeming with fish of good sizes. The two top lakes are usually the haunt of carp anglers, but the lower lake shouldn’t be ignored by those wanting to bag a big carp either!
What size do the fish go to?
All of the lakes at this fishery hold carp to over 20lbs. The Higher Lakes have over 100 common, mirror and ghost carp, though. So there is more chance of catching a big one on these lakes.
The lower lake has a healthy crop of big ones too, with commons and mirrors both reaching 20lbs in this lake too.
Finally, both lakes have a good head of silverfish, and also some impressive green and golden tench to 6lbs and perch to a whopping 3lbs.
What tactics work well?
One of the best tactics on both lakes is the method feeder. It is one of the most under-utilised techniques on a lot of lakes but can provide hours of fishing fun when used in target areas. A bed of groundbait and pellets with some corn on the hook can also lead to a fun day’s finishing on both lakes.
