Fishery Information
A sophisticated and secluded location, the Holbury Lakes Trout Fishery features four lakes in a beautiful setting.
The Pond is great for beginners. The half-acre lake is well-stocked with plenty of space for casting. The water is six to 12 feet deep.
The Island is noted for being a “mixed bag,” with lots of variety in the waters and lots of fishing opportunities for the versatile angler. This spot is an acre in size, with an average of seven feet in depth. Some spots range up to 14 feet.
Long Lake is picturesque, surrounded by wild flowers in the summer months and spacious for users who like a more luxurious fishing experience. Average depth at Long Lake is seven feet.
Finally, Willow is perhaps the most challenging spot at Holbury Lakes because of its tree coverage. There is less room to cast along the banks, making for a lot of adjustment along the way.
What tactics work well?
Casting for trout is more advanced at Willow Lake than most other lakes. Longer, fine leaders are best on these waters, with small dry flies recommended.
Access for disabled patrons is good at most of the lakes, although Willow Lake is a fair trip from the car park and can be a bit tricky to get to.
What facilities are on site?
There is a log cabin fishing office on location. This features free coffee and tea for visitors, as well as a microwave.
There is also a larger fishing lodge, with coffee and tea. A function room is situated above the lodge. It is available for group rental, plus a barbecue is available upon request.
There are toilets at the larger fishing lodge.
Is parking available?
There is a car park on location at Holbury Lakes Trout Fishery.
