Fishery Information
Hopton Waters is a quiet lake that was purpose-built 15 years ago to offer a good day’s fishing. There are plenty of fish species to target, including mirror and common carp, bream, orfe and golden orfe, tench, roach and perch.
The lake is nice and clear without too much weed. This makes spotting the fish nice and easy allowing you to target the larger carp and find areas to bait as well.
What size do the fish go to?
The carp in this lake are currently over 20lbs, but records are being broken every year. There are also bream to 7lbs, tench to 6lbs and orfes to 2lbs. Again, though, the fish stock in this lake is growing rapidly, so the chances of a lake record are really high.
What tactics work well?
The lake features an island that is always worth targeting, the carp like to relax near the island, so a single hook bait in the right spot is quickly picked up. Maggot, corn and worm are ideal choices for the other species in the lake, but the carp do like corn too. You also can’t go wrong with pellet or a good quality groundbait with a sweet smell, either. While the island is the obvious target in this lake, the margins shouldn’t be ignored.
What facilities are on site?
Disabled access to some pegs is available. There are also toilets on site. Day tickets are also available.
Is parking available?
Parking is available lakeside.
