Located Newcastle upon Tyne, Horton range is a quaint fishery that offers a fantastic day’s sport to anglers of all abilities. The site is relatively small but that does not take away from the phenomenal fish on offer. The surroundings are a hotspot for wildlife, with the mature trees providing a home to various bird species. Furthermore, small islands, reeds and lily pads add to the serenity of the setting.
Importantly, there are many spacious swims on offer, most of which are accessible to disabled and elderly anglers. The waters are also home to many Perch, Bream, Tench, Roach and Carp.
Due to the unspoiled surroundings and excellent sport on offer, Horton Grange is a favourite among the local angling community. Thus, anglers will never leave the venue feeling disappointed.
What size do the fish go to?
Perch, Bream, Tench and Roach typically weigh between 2 and 9lbs. Additionally, Carp are frequently caught in double figures. Furthermore, the largest specimen often exceed 20lbs.
What tactics work well?
Utilising pellets and boilies is effective during the summer. Also, using a feeder with warms or sweetcorn helps to entice the larger Carp. Bread, worms, maggots, and prawns are all popular choices of bait.
