Fishery Information
Situated in Newton, Lancashire, Houghton’s Lodge is a stunning location that offers excellent fishing to the keen Carp angler. The water is approximately 1-acre in size and boasts an array of fishing features.
The mature woodlands that make up the permitter are home to numerous birdlife species and provide anglers with a sense of privacy. Furthermore, there a many spacious swims available, with some of them being fully accessible to the disabled angler.
The lake affords a healthy selection of Bream, Tench, Roach, Perch and Carp. Fishing is permitted from dawn until disk and day tickets can be purchased from Wigan and District Angling Association.
What size do the fish go to?
Carp frequently come in over 10lbs, with the largest fishing even exceeding 20lbs. Also, Tench, Bream, Perch and Roach are commonly caught between 2 and 8lbs.
What tactics work well?
Utilising pellets and boilies is recommended during the warmer months. Moreover, using a feeder with sweetcorn or worms entices larger Carp. Cured meat, maggots and prawns are also popular choices of bait.
