Fishery Information

Tucked into the core of Worcestershire, Larford Lakes is actually made up of three lakes. Match Lake, Arena Lake, and Specimen Lake combine to create a terrific fishing experience for anglers of all skill levels.

Start with Match Lake, with 66 pegs across six acres. This bad boy is stocked with carp and F1 hybrids, the ideal source for serious match fishing. It’s teeming with good amounts of roach, tench, bream, perch, and eels.

Match Lake hosts the prestigious New Golden Reel event.

Arena Lake is the smallest body at Larford Lakes, but it packs a punch from its 35 pegs. This lake is stocked predominately with carp and bream, but roach, tench, eels, and hybrids are also in the mix. Prior to 2015, Arena Lake was a float-only fishing spot. Now, bomb and feeder fishing is allowed.

Finally, Specimen Lake more than earns its moniker. The largest lake on the complex has 90 pegs over 20 acres of space. The most famous fish has to be the monster carp, but Specimen Lake also features loads of roach, bream, perch, and tench.

What size do the fish go to?

You can find big carp in Specimen Lake ranging up to and over 30 pounds, so that’s a pretty great start.

Fish anywhere from eight to 28 pounds can be found in Arena Lake,

Thanks to the competitive spirit of Match Lake, this spot has produced weights of up to 100 pounds.

What tactics work well?

Pole and pellet get the job done at Match Lake, with anglers using meat and corn late in the day to produce the best results. Shallow fishing during the warm months comes highly recommended.

In Specimen Lake, a versatile approach works best. Everything from pellet waggler to short and long poles yields gains. Pellet is the most popular bait.

At Arena Lake, it’s all about that bait. Pellets, meat, corn, and maggots do the deed, with regular anglers finding greatness by fishing short.

What facilities are on site?

Larford Lakes features a transport service for anglers who want a little assistance getting tackle to their pegs. There is a small fee for this service.

An 80-seat café packs numerous culinary delights, plus it accepts club bookings and function reservations. When the weather gets nice, there are outdoor picnic tables.
