Fishery Information
Situated in leigh, Lancashire, Leeds and Liverpool Canal is a stunning location that offers excellent sport to the keen Carp angler. The water boasts a variety of fishing features, such as reeds and overhanging trees, which offer a selection of wildlife as well as shelter.
The canal is a mixed fishery which is under the management of the Wigan and District Angling Association. Furthermore, the waters contain a healthy stock of Bream, Tench, Perch, Roach, Pike and Carp.
The setting has a deep history and is open for fishing from dusk until dawn every day.
What size do the fish go to?
Tench, Bream, Perch and Roach tend to come in between 2-7lbs. Carp and Pike are frequently caught in the double figures, with larger fish exceeding 20lbs.
What tactics work well?
Standard still water tactics tend to work well. Also, anglers often like to use a feeder with sweetcorn or worms to entice the larger Carp. Additionally, utilising pellets and boilies should be considered during the warmer months.
What facilities are on site?
Clean toilet facilities are open to visitors in the nearby Nice-Pak International Westwood Park. Moreover, there are a number of cafes and restaurants in close proximity.
