Fishery Information

Little Moulsham is a 9.5-acre lake located in the fishing village of Yateley. The lake was dug in the mid-80s and stocked with a number of fish. Today, there are about 30 original fish left in the lake, with weights up to 34lb. The lake was stocked with VS fisheries strain fish 11 years ago, and some of these fish are now over 38lb. The lake also has a dozen grass carp, with most of them weighing over 38lb and at least 5 over 50lb, with the biggest one being a fish called The Record at 53.12.

What size do the fish go to?

The lake contains about 100 carp, with 4 strains of fish stocked in the lake. The Avon Vally strain goes up to low 20’s, the Dinton strain fish are now up to 33lb, the Simmo Scaly’s are up to an unknown size, and the Leneys are part of a growing project. By the end of 2019, there should be at least a dozen fish over 30lb, and in 2 years’ time, there could be 4 over 40lb.

What tactics work well?

As the lake is quite shallow, with 40% of the lake being less than 5 feet, and with depths down to 11 feet in the deep corner, fishing with a bottom bait or a pop-up rig will work well. Anglers should use good quality boilies and bait, and pre-baiting can help attract the fish. Night fishing is allowed, and anglers can use boats provided on site.

What facilities are on site?

There are 15 swims on the lake, set out so that anglers don’t have conflicts with other anglers on the opposite side of the lake. There are two BBQ shelters with gas BBQ’s for members to use, and these shelters also have leather sofas and other facilities, which makes for great social evenings in the summer and winter. Boats are allowed and are provided on site.

Is parking available?

Unfortunately, there is no information provided about parking at Little Moulsham. It’s best to check with the fishery or ask for information from other anglers who have fished at the lake.
