Owned by passionate carp anglers Steve and Sioned, Llyn Cae-Tŷ-Nant is a 2-acre lake with depths ranging from 3 to 14 feet. It was originally dug with trout fishing in mind, but has since become a carp haven. The lake is home to a large variety of insect life, with caddice fly and damsel being particularly prolific. This is due to the water’s pH of 7.4, which is perfect for carp. In 2017, 100 lily plants were introduced to the lake, providing an excellent habitat for the carp and viewing areas for anglers.
What size do the fish go to?
Currently, the lake has 41 hand-picked carp, ranging from fully scaled, linears, commons, and near leathers. The goal is to have 30 fish over 30lb, which they are close to achieving. One in two fish are now over 30lb, and with the current growth rates, it’s possible that three in every four fish will be over 30lb. Three fish are pushing 40lb, with one potentially over 40lb, but this is yet to be confirmed.
What tactics work well?
There isn’t specific information about tactics in the provided text. However, considering the variety of carp present and the presence of lily plants, anglers may benefit from using a range of carp fishing techniques and adjusting their approach based on the conditions and behavior of the fish.
What facilities are on site?
The fishery has its own stock pond on site, with hand-selected fish pushing 20lb. This ensures that the fishery continues to grow and evolve, with new fish replacing any that don’t make the grade in the specimen lake. There isn’t any information about other facilities on site.
Is parking available?
There isn’t any information about parking availability in the provided text.
