Llyn Y Gors is a tranquil getaway on the scenic Isle of Anglesey in North Wales. Ghost carp were initially introduced into a mixed fishery at this coarse fishery over ten years ago, making it one of the pioneers in the country. There are seven lakes in the Llyn Y Gors complex.
As its name suggests, the Beginners Lake is ideal for people new to fishing, especially children.
The Match Lake covers a total area of 2.1 acres and has over 11,000 fish species, including carp, tench, bream, orfe, roach, perch, chub, and barbel. It is one of the loveliest match lakes.
In addition to roach, rudd, tench, golden orfe, bream, and perch (with a record weight of nearly 4 pounds), the Pleasure Lake is also home to crucian and ghost carp.
Reed Lake is the new specialist lake at Llyn Y Gors, and it has a variety of fish species, including Crucian Carp, Chub, Ide, Roach, Perch, Bream, and Tench. The lake contains over 5,000 fish, with the largest species being the tench, some of which weigh over seven pounds each. The lake was stocked with fish. Crucians exceeding 2lb have been banked.
Carp Lake is a mature tree-lined body of water that spans around 5 acres and is home to a healthy population of carp, pike, and catfish. It was established more than 30 years ago. The approximately 400 carp in the stock range from 8 to 34 pounds, while the pike and the catfish captured have been above 27 pounds.
The area surrounding Thompson’s Pool is remote and boasts a rich diversity of flora and fauna. It has over 51 carp, most weighing between 20 and 35 pounds, and cats weighing close to 33 pounds each.
One of the newest lakes constructed in Llyn Y Gors is called the Karpium, and it has developed into a wonderful picturesque lake with over 300 fish weighing up to 21 pounds. The lake is also the deepest o reaching up to 14 feet providing the fish with the ability to patrol anywhere they like and an exciting struggle.
