Fishery Information

The Logie Trout fishery, which dates back to 1988 and is located 12 miles south of Aberdeen on Logie, sits in beautiful surroundings on the edge of Limpet Wood. Because there is a wealth of insect life, the sunset at the fishery can be breathtaking. The fish acquire food from the natural vegetation and plant life in both pools.

The fishery receives excellent, clean water from natural springs and a stream that originates from the moor approximately two miles away. On any given day, up to one million gallons of fresh and naturally filtered water flows into the pools. The natural, fresh, clear water is one of the contributing factors that help give Logie its reputation for providing anglers with fit and healthy trout that put up a good fight.

The Logie Trout Fishery consists of two pools stocked with Rainbow Trout. There are also some Brown Trout and Brook Trout in both pools, but catching them is much more difficult.

Stocking is weekly, and the number of fish to be stocked is determined based on the catch return forms that anglers must fill out before leaving the fishery. The fishing hut has catch return forms available for customers to use.

In February 2006, a substantial extension of the bottom pool at the fishery was completed. In conjunction with Trout Fisherman magazine, Logie was selected as a venue for the Trout Masters tournament.
