Fishery Information
Marden Quarry is controlled and operated by Big Waters Angling Club, which has taken care of this water over the years. They have restocked the quarry recently, and this has really improved the fishing. There are now quality roach, perch, bream, tench, rudd, Crucian carp and the occasional goldfish to target. Along with nice-sized carp, of course.
What size do the fish go to?
The carp in the quarry are not the biggest around, but they are beautiful fish. Recent catch reports state that the carp are over 18lbs, but they are growing rapidly. The other fish species are also growing nicely with tench and bream to good weights. Improvements to the lake’s spawning grounds in recent years has also allowed the fish population to grow even more. So there is a real chance of this lake becoming a very exciting venue in the next few years.
What tactics work well?
As many of the fish are smaller in this venue, you can have a brilliant day here on the pole or using a float rod. To get down to where the larger fish hang out, you could try using boilies, although the carp are young enough that they still respond well to pellets, so method feeding is a good choice too. Sticking to overhangs and the island could see you catch one of the larger residents.
What facilities are on site?
There is night fishing available at this venue, and there is no closed season.
Is parking available?
Yes, parking is available close to the lake.
