Fishery Information
A series of small fishing Broads in the heart of Norfolk makes up Martham Pits, close to the popular town of Great Yarmouth. Managed by the Martham and District Angling Club, the pits are a great place to fish for both experience anglers and novices.
Easily reached by the local road networks, this well-maintained fishery offers a different type of coarse fishing to a regular lake, but is equally rewarding. The ‘A’ Pit is the choice for most visitors as it is stocked with a good head of sizeable carp including common, mirror and linear varieties.
Day ticket fishing is not available as the small size of the Pits makes this unviable. As a result, the club membership is full, and there is a healthy waiting list for available spots.
What size do the fish go to?
Carp of more than 20lb are in in the ‘A’ Pit, as are bream up to 8lb. Also in the waters are good sized roach and rudd of up to 2lb, and pike of in excess of 20lb. There are also a few 8lb tench.
What facilities are on site?
The Pits offer specially constructed pegs but no further facilities. There are plenty of shops, pubs and eateries in the surrounding towns and villages, as well as in Great Yarmouth itself.
Is parking available?
Parking is available nearby with a walk to the pegs.
