Fishery Information
Marton Heath is a family-run fishery located in the scenic and rural area of Northeastern Cheshire. Even though it is a man-made fishery, considerable care has been taken to preserve the area’s natural beauty by planting trees, hedges, and wildflowers around it. There is one coarse pool in addition to the three trout pools at this fishery.
The excavation of the original two-acre pool, completed in 1987, is Don’s Pool, and it can accommodate 15 rods. They expanded the space in 1990 by constructing a second pool, which allowed for an additional 15 rods. The third body of water, Woodside Pool, was dug out during the summer of 1998, increasing the total land area to seven acres. The pools are stocked with rainbow trout up to 1 kilogram as often as is deemed necessary. In addition to brown trout, larger fish are introduced as specimens to be caught and released.
The present-day coarse pond was once five separate ponds combined to form a larger body of water. It has a healthy population of Common, Mirror, and Crucian Carp, Rudd, Perch, and Tench, making it ideal for fishing with more conventional techniques and yielding good catches.
