Fishery Information
Set in the picturesque Maunsel House situated in North Newton, Maunsel Ponds is home to 2 beautiful lakes that you would surely enjoy.
Lake 1 is the first lake you will see from the main car park. This 1-acre water has a depth of between 3 feet and 8 feet. There is a small island about 1/3 of the way down the lake and a deep channel that runs down the left hand bank as you look towards Lake 2. This water holds a good stock of carp up to 20 lbs., tench to 5 lbs. and bream to 8 lbs.. Other fish species present include crucian carp, roach and perch. It is highly recommended to fish on this lake either early morning or late evening.
Lake 2 is known as Taunton Angling Association’s premier carp water. It is surrounded by overhanging willow trees, mature bank side vegetation and bed lily pads. This water is home to both common and mirror carp up to over 30 lbs. Most tactics work on this lake in right conditions and at the right time of the year.
Night permits are allowed but on limited number.

Fishmeal groundbait with worm or corn over the top works well for catching bream and tench.

There is a car park available on site.
Is parking available?
Parking is only allowed on the gravel area in front of the ponds. Parking anywhere else is not permitted.
