Situated in a quaint location near Hinckley, Leicestershire, Maynes Lake is a fantastic facility that offers great sport to both the beginner and seasoned angler. The site comprises of 3 lakes in total, all of which boast a variety of fishing features.
The first lake is the specimen lake, which has a number of spacious pegs, many of which are accessible to the disabled and elderly angler. Furthermore, the spot is notorious for its healthy stock of extremely large carp.
The next two lakes are both canal style waters. Again, they have a number of unique features as well as a good head of Bream, Tench, Roach and Carp.
What size do the fish go to?
Bream, Tench and Roach tend to average between 3-8lbs. Anglers often report carp that go well into double figures, with the largest specimen exceeding 20lbs.
What tactics work well?
Luncheon meat is a popular bait. Additionally, using a feeder with worms or sweetcorn helps to entice the larger Carp. Also, utilising pellets and boilies during the warmer months can be very effective.
