McGregor Lake Information
Situated in the heart of the Bedfordshire countryside, this lake is bordered by the River Ivel, and is located just to the east of Sedington off the A1. The lake is a former trout fishery that has been heavily stocked with a mix of mirror and common carp. Sandy lakes fishery is a member’s water that is presently administered by the Biggleswade and Hitchin Angling Association, day tickets are available.
The stocked fish in the lake have grown to some really respectable sizes with the club website promoting carp in excess of 20lb.
Due to the levels of stocking, anglers can expect multiple catches in a session on a good day. Night fishing is also available but is only offered to club members who must register and then be put on a waiting list.
Aside from carp there are a whole host of species to be found, this includes; Pike, Tench, very large Perch, Roach, Bream, and even Eels!

Carp can grow in excess of 20lb in this lake
If you are looking for specimen Pike this could be a great place, monsters of 26lb have been caught here!
Tench up to 9lb is a possibility
Perch up to 3lb are caught regularly
2lb roach are also a possibility
What tactics work well on McGregor Lake?
Anglers are limited to two rods on this water.
For Tench, float fishing brings good results.
Big bags of roach are possible using a pole, and feeder rods also work well. Anglers may have to adapt their tactics to avoid shoals of Gudgeon
For Eels, worm baits on running ledger rigs can give a good result.
