Fishery Information
Located in Ince-in-Makerfield, Wigan, Melling’s Number 1 Flash is a humble lake that offers decent coarse fishing to anglers in Lancashire. Furthermore, the lake boasts a number of features which add to its character and give a more pleasurable stay.
Mature trees surround the water, offering homes to birdlife as well as sheltering fishermen from the elements. Additionally, there are number of spacious swims available, several of which are accessible to disabled and elderly anglers.
The site is just over 1-acre in total and is open syndicate members of Wigan and District Angling Association. Importantly, there is a healthy stock of Tench, Roach, Bream as well as a few Carp.
What size do the fish go to?
Bream, Tench, and Roach generally come in between 2 and 8lbs. Carp are occasionally caught, with the largest specimen exceeding 10lbs.
What tactics work well?
Fishing on the pole is recommended. Also, utilising pellets and boilies helps during the warmer months. Prawns, worms and sweetcorn are all popular choices of bait. However, most popular still water tactics tend to suffice.
