Middleton Ponds Information

Middleton Park fishing lake is set into a beautiful 470-acre park in Leeds. The park has loads of free activities for the family, including the fishing lake. The lake is free to fish on; you simply need a rod license. Middleton Park lake is the perfect place to take kids to get them interested in fishing. This lake is perfect for match-style fishing with a good stock of smaller fish.

What size do the fish go to?

The fish in this lake don’t go up to huge numbers, but there are plenty of bites to be had. There is roach to a pound, dace to 12oz, tench to 5lbs and carp to an impressive 15lbs.

What tactics work well?

We suggest using groundbait and bait that will attract the most species of fish possible. Sweetcorn or maggots would be ideal bait here, and some match-style groundbait will ensure you are catching every few minutes. Staying close to margins is also a great idea. Using a pole or a float rod will provide some brilliant sport.

What facilities are on site?

The facilities at the lake itself are quite limited. However, the Middleton Park cafe is just a short distance from the lake, and it has toilet and refreshments facilities there.

Is parking available?

The park does have a car park which is located next to the bowling green and is just a short walk from the fishing lake. There are also tarmac paths throughout the park, making the lake easily accessible for disabled anglers.
