Millbrook Lake, found in Marston Moretaine, Bedford, is the Ampthill & District Angling Club and Fish Preservation Society’s most recent addition to their collection of still waterways. It was once a part of the London Brick Company’s clay extraction in the 1970s, and today it is a mature lake with 20 swims.
The 2-acre lake is incredibly deep, ranging from 15 feet in front of peg 1 dropping away to as much as 30 feet in the centre. Each peg offers a pleasant experience thanks to natural banks and wooden platforms. Some of the pegs feature a ledge that is 4 feet deep and descends very steeply down.
The presence of carp and a healthy population of silver fish contribute to an excellent mixed fishery suitable for anglers of all skill levels, from novices to those who specialize in carp fishing. You can park safely in the approved car park and then stroll the short distance to the lake, where two paths branch off to the left and right, each leading to a quiet corner of Bedfordshire.
Before you go fishing, make sure you are familiar with all of the lake and club rules. Due to the lake’s extreme depth, great caution is required when fishing. Night fishing is not allowed.
