The Moffat Fishery is famous for providing some of the best opportunities for fly fishing in two well stocked lochans thanks to its serene setting in the rolling Scottish Borders. Brown trout are present in the 4 ½ acre loch, in addition to the rainbow trout that range in size from 3 pounds and up. There is also a good stock of brown trout.
The loch offers bait and coarse fishing at the clear waters, fed by natural springs. Fishing at the lochans runs throughout the year, but to keep the water clear throughout the year, the management keeps the area free of weeds and designates every Monday and Tuesday as cutting days. In addition to making the loch fishable, cutting helps establish a regular feeding pattern in the fish.
