Fishery Information
Muiresk Fishings specializes in fly fishing for Sea Trout and Salmon on the River Deveron, near Turriff in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. There are 3 rods available on the beat, and basic tuition is available by prior arrangement for those who have booked fishing. The fishing site features 12 named pools and it’s nearly all double bank. The fishery has some exquisite holding pools and is known to fish well from the end of May, boasting plenty of white water allowing it to fish well even in low water conditions.
What size do the fish go to?
Salmon are encountered from the season’s start and Sea Trout start running towards the end of May. April and May is normally exceptional for the Brown Trout. Notably, the British record for a salmon caught on a fly came off the Deveron, weighing an impressive 61 lb.
What tactics work well?
Fly fishing is the primary tactic used at Muiresk Fishings. With the river conditions and available species, this tactic works extremely well, especially towards the end of May when the fishery begins to thrive.
What facilities are on site?
The fishery offers well-appointed accommodation in the form of two cottages, which are amongst the best on the river. These cottages are available from the 1st of March until the 31st of October. Additionally, there is a comfortable, secluded cottage with its own garden, situated within the grounds of the estate. This cottage is available to let with the fishing, situated just 100 metres from the River Deveron. It houses two twin bedrooms, one of which has a spare bed. Well-behaved pets are also welcomed at Muiresk Fishings.
Is parking available?
Yes, parking is available for several cars, providing ample space for visitors.
