Murphy’s Pond and Woodside Pond is just outside Thorganby and close to York. It consists of two naturalized and well-established ponds surrounded by the beautiful Yorkshire countryside.
The Woodside Pond is a small body of water that provides natural fishing in seclusion with sheltering at the edge of a nearby forest. There are 19 pegs spread out among the lily pads, established marginal reeds, and small trees that hang over the edge. Carp of all shapes and sizes are easy to spot swimming around in the pond.
Mirror, Common, and Crucian Carp, Roach, Tench, Bream, Ide, Rudd, and Perch are the fish in the pond. A separate parking lot is available next to the pond, making it convenient for anglers with mobility issues. All the pegs have hard standing, and the walkways and paths surrounding the pond make it easy to get around.
Murphy’s Pond offers the experience of fishing in a large pond. Home to the best fish and amid nooks and crannies, the pond provides you with 43 pegs, and you can fish in the open or find a spot to set up in the privacy of the woods. The pond winds its way around two islands, offering fishing opportunities and connected by sturdy bridges. It is the perfect pond for you to fish in if you enjoy catching a wide variety of fish.
Some fish in the pond are Mirror, Common Carp, F1 Carp, Bream, Roach, Tench, Ide, Rudd, Perch, and Chub. Fish and anglers benefit from the healthy marginal vegetation, reeds, and smaller trees. This vegetation provides fish a place to hide and keeps anglers interested in the water. Because it has its independent parking lot, it is accessible even to disabled anglers.
A public footpath that connects Wheldrake to Thorganby is just outside the entrance to the pond, making it easier to take a stroll in between bites.
