Ystradfellte Reservoir, also known as Nant Moel, is a fly fishing only reservoir situated in over 12 acres of idyllic countryside at the top of the Cynon valley, between Aberdare and Merthyr Tydfil. The reservoir is run by Aberdare and District Angling Association.
What size do the fish go to?
The reservoir is stocked regularly with hard-fighting rainbow trout averaging 2lb, with many larger ones up to 7lb, and the occasional blue trout. Brown trout are also present.
What tactics work well?
Fly fishing is the only allowed method at Ystradfellte Reservoir.
What facilities are on site?
The lake offers disabled facilities, including four level platforms, ramps, and flat paths for wheelchair users.
